FLAMENCO PURO: The exotic, intense and beautiful dances of Southern Spain.
You will learn:
Posturing
Arms (braceo)
Flamenco Rhythms
Footwork
Various Styles of Flamenco, such as: Alegrias, Buleria, Fandango, Farruca, Rumba Flamenco, Sevillanas, Sequirillas, Soleares, Tangos, Taranto, Tientos, and Zambra
The personality of the dance
Use of the Mantilla (large shawl), Albanica (fan) and Castanets
Choreography will also be taught.
WARNING:
Flamenco is not for everyone. It is a complex dance that requires dedication and perseverance. If you like the “style” of flamenco, but you are not ready for FLAMENCO PURO with the footwork, consider an easier form called:
RUMBA FLAMENCA
This style of dances is much easier to learn than Flamenco Puro, has great upbeat music, and is perfect for parties!
Tahja, who has over 4 decades of performing and teaching flamenco, offers classes in both styles.
Occasionally classes are accompanied with live music.
