Ya Salaam performs traditional songs, some dating back to the 1500s. Tahja believes that music and dance are important to not only pass down the history and traditions of cultures, but also to keep society together and happy.
Tahja was choreographer and director of the famed Middle Eastern music and dance ensemble “YaSalaam”.
“Ya Salaam” translates as either “Peace Now” or “Oh, Wow!”
In the Middle East, dance is commonly performed to a live band. There is an organic synergy of live music and dance that is spontaneous and intensely up-lifting. Tahja re-creates this feeling for dancers and audiences every where she performs.
Tahja with Oud
As a three piece, the band features oud, vocals, guitar, ney (Middle Eastern flute) and traditional percussion.
Tahja creates celebrations that are long remembered.
Ya Salaam can also include live dancers with their musical performances. Add our beautiful belly dancers or Zaffa (wedding procession entertainers) for even more excitement!
YaSalaam is also available to play for Haflas!
